
IT Support helps you get started with your CID (Chalmers account), MFA, email, Chalmers Apps, and other IT resources at Chalmers.
Chalmers account (CID)
CID is the name of your account at Chalmers.
You use it as your username (cid), or as part of a username (cid@chalmers.se), and as part of your email address (cid@student.chalmers.se).

MFA and Microsoft 365
Your Microsoft school account is created after you activate your CID. The account is usually available within a few hours, but it may take longer, especially at the start of the semester.
You need to use MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) to access Microsoft’s cloud services. This means you may need to verify yourself using an app on your phone when you use one of the connected services.
Your e-mail account is a part of your Microsoft school account and is created after you have activated your CID. The account is usually available within a few hours, but it may take longer, especially at the start of the semester.
Eduroam (wifi)
You have access to wireless network via Eduroam across campus.

Connecting via VPN to Chalmers
Some services require you to use Chalmers VPN if you want to connect to them when you are off campus.

Computers
Chalmers has a well-developed IT infrastructure and a wide range of software that you can download to your computer. If you do not have your own computer, there are plenty of computers available in Chalmers’ computer labs.

Chalmers Apps
You get access to almost all software you need for your studies through the cloud service Chalmers Apps.

Software
You have access to various software that may be useful for your studies. Many programs are available for installation on your own personal computer. Some of the most common programs include:
Microsoft Office 365
Matlab and Mathematica
ShareLaTex
Many of the programs can be downloaded from the Student Software Portal.

File storage and OneDrive
You have access to OneDrive via your Microsoft school account, as well as a home directory on Chalmers’ file server.
